Mr. Hutchinson’s Modern World History class chose to explore the topic of immigration for our Oral History Project. The project was an opportunity to both develop the skill of creating an Oral History project and to learn more about members of our immediate and extended Lincoln community. Our interviewees immigrated to the U.S. from Japan, Northern Ireland, Israel, the Philippines and one interviewee migrated to San Francisco from Vicksburg, Mississippi in the 1940s. If you have a chance to listen to all interviews, you will find many similarities in their experiences, and we can learn a lot about what it means to be an American by listening to these diverse narratives.
We hope you enjoy reading and listening to these interviews as much as we enjoyed creating them. Please click on a picture to explore the page.
